Person-Centred Therapy

What Is Person-Centred Therapy?
Person-Centred therapy is a humanistic approach to counselling and psychotherapy that places you at the heart of the therapeutic process. Developed by Carl Rogers, this approach is based on the belief that you have the innate capacity for growth, healing, and self-discovery when provided with the right conditions. In a safe, non-judgmental space, I offer empathy, genuineness, and unconditional positive regard, allowing you to explore your thoughts and emotions freely. This supportive environment helps you gain greater self-awareness, confidence, and clarity, empowering you to navigate life’s challenges in a way that aligns with your true self.
What will it be like?
Each session is guided by your unique experiences, needs, and pace. In our sessions, you are encouraged to talk openly about your thoughts and feelings in a safe, supportive space, without fear of judgment. There is no set agenda—our conversations unfold naturally, allowing you to explore what feels most important to you. As your therapist, I will listen with empathy, offer reflections, and help you deepen your self-awareness, but I won’t impose advice or solutions. Over time, this process fosters personal growth, self-acceptance, and greater clarity, empowering you to make choices that feel right for you.
Additional Aspects

Experiential
In addition to traditional person-centred counselling, I integrate experiential approaches to deepen self-exploration and emotional processing. This may include focusing on bodily felt senses to bring to awareness emotions that might be difficult to connect with and finding meaning. These techniques can help you connect more fully with your emotions and experiences. By engaging with feelings in a more present and embodied way, you can gain new insights, release emotional blocks, and foster meaningful change. This approach supports a deeper, more intuitive understanding of yourself, enhancing the transformative power of therapy.
DBT and Solution-Focused Techniques
While my core approach is person-centred, I also integrate elements of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Solution-Focused Therapy to support clients in developing practical skills and creating meaningful change. DBT techniques, such as mindfulness, emotional regulation, and distress tolerance, can help manage overwhelming emotions and improve resilience. Solution-Focused Therapy complements this by emphasizing strengths, identifying goals, and exploring practical steps toward positive change. By blending these approaches, I offer a flexible and tailored therapy experience that empowers you to navigate challenges with greater clarity, balance, and confidence.
